Disney Dining, All You Need to Know:
Disney Dining- Disneyland and Disney World offer wonderful, unique, and tasty dining options. There are several famous restaurants you won't want to miss. All have character dining experiences within the resorts. These are wonderful!
Dining Cards
There are no dining cards for Disneyland, but they do have great snack carts, quick service, and of course, famous dining restaurants, reservations required.
It is still quite hard to get reservations, so this is one great reason to book with an agent, because I have insider ways to get reservations.
Mobile Ordering
Mobile order is here to stay. It is offered on quick service items to save time. Your card is kept on file and it is super easy to use. Just mobile order and pick the time you want it ready.
Munch on turkey legs, churros, popcorn and more. Don't forget the popcorn buckets for souvenirs and cheap snacking.
Disneyland Dining
My favorite Disneyland restaurant is Blue Bayou inside Pirates of Caribbean ride boasting wonderful New Orleans style food. Again, reservations are hard to secure. This is one place I’ve been going to since I was a kid.
Café Orleans is next door and it is beautiful. Café Orleans features Cajun and Creole specialties. There are shows nearby and it has a wonderful open-air feel.
Disneyland also has Alien Pizza, a space mountain restaurant with excellent pizza and pasta.
Cinderella’s Castle has no dining inside simply because it is too small (but it is a must-see and oh so fun to run around inside playing chase and pretend!)
Mainstreet Plaza has excellent character dining. Goofy's Kitchen is fabulous.
Storytellers has a great princess breakfast.
Insider tip: breakfast is excellent for character dining!
California Adventure, next-door to Disneyland, has Wine Country Trattoria, a winery and stellar Italian food restaurant with a Tuscan flare villa setting. They even offer happy hour for magic key holders with great wine selections.
Enjoy the World of Color Ferris wheel show, eat dinner at Trattoria and watch the show. You’ll feel like an insider in no time. Carthay Circle Restaurant and Storyteller Café offer the same World of Color show viewing+dining experience.
Downtown Disney at Disney Springs offers the bowling alley and restaurant, Splitsville with retro-glam 10-pin bowling and dining.
Tortilla Jo’s is a colorful cantina with excellent Mexican food in the downtown Disney District.
Oga’s Cantina is at Galazy’s Edge in Disneyland and inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Hollywood Studios at Disney World. Adult beverages are served space ship style with unusual concoctions and alluring mixology and charcuterie boards for snacking.
Club 33 is a private, high-luxury, secretive, membership-only restaurant above Pirates of the Caribbean in New Orleans Square. It is well-sought with a supposed four year waiting list.
Reservations are hard to secure. Memberships run $25,000-$50,000. If you know someone with a membership, they can get you in. The restaurant is marked by only a faint ‘33’ sign, hidden in plain sight. Once inside, expect a no-cell phone policy, high end dining, and celebrity sightings.
Disney World Dining
Disney World offers snack carts, quick service, and reservation only dining. Mobile ordering is here to stay for quick service. Order from your phone and designate the desired pick up time.
For dinner reservations with my own kids, if we are there for one week, we plan on only 3-4 reservations because they take 1-2 hours, they are expensive, and we don’t want to over do it. However, they are certainly worth it.
Insider tip: breakfast is excellent for character dining!
Cinderella’s Castle Royal Table offers great food and an authentic in-castle character dining experience. Be Our Guest offers the essence of Beauty and the Beast sure to inspire.
Chef Mickeys character dining offers the fabulous 5: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto roaming the dining area during an all you can feast event for $55/adult and $36 children ages 3-9yrs.
‘Ohana is a Polynesian-themed dining experience which is wonderful and very popular.
Hibachi-style Teppan Edo’s is popular for Japanese cuisine at EPCOT.
Disney Springs boasts many famous names in cooking. It’s hard to pick. They are all so good.
Oprah’s chef, Art Smith, will wow you at Homecomin’ where you’ll dine on southern biscuits and chicken, shrimp and grits. Fabulous!
The Chicken Guy! features Guy Fieri’s chicken fingers. Wow. The sauces add to the already fabulous chicken.
Dining Cards
Dining cards will be available again in Jan 2022. These are a must-have. You will undoubtedly eat in the park, so grab a pre-dining card and get free money from Disney. For example, if you buy a $200 card, you’ll get $250 from Disney. This is $50 in free money, and it helps the pocketbook.
Some dining cards are more expensive. I often tell people to buy Visa or any pre-loaded gift cards before you go and even ask for gift cards for birthdays and Christmas to help offset the costs.
A Laundry's card gives priority seating at Disney Springs. This card is good for many, many restaurants at Disney, as well as in your local neighborhood restaurant. All these little tips add up and help your pocketbook.
